Wood is a raw material which yields to the artist's hand. It can be used as is - natural, wild, eruptive… but it can also be used in designing furniture. In these works both possibilities are juxstaposed - a shapely wooden picture frame encloses the root of a tree, its curvy arms carefully manipulated by the artist to enhance their presence. Or, a polished background which serves as a restraining device holding back the root's heroic attempts to break away. This notion is repeated as bamboo sticks pierce a piece of curved furniture but their root is left as it is, locked inside. These are just few examples which demonstrate my treatment of wood in both its forms, many more will be shown on a larger scale exhibition to comeClose Window
