Sculpting from Found Obj. >>
It was Marcel Duchamp who thought of the term Readymades, a term that was then adopted by Dada artists.
The world is full of objects, they declared, and when an artist chooses an object and sets it on a base, the choice itself is like a work of art.
I, too, find/choose objects that incorporate their original purpose, to which I connect through additions (by welding, screwing, or casting) until the object takes on the meaning, form, or distinctive nature that I was seeking – until it embodies artistic wholeness and can be called a work of art / objet d'art.
